A large number of bead were unearthed from tombs dating to the Qin and Han periods in Guangzhou. These beads are notable for their diverse materials, varied shapes, and rich colors. In addition to locally produced pieces, some reflect overseas influences in their manufacturing techniques, while others are clearly imported goods.

Study on the Beads and Pendants of Han Dynasties Unearthed from Guangzhou provides a comprehensive survey of such finds in the Guangzhou region. Drawing on archaeological typology and scientific analyses, the book explores the origins and development of these bead ornaments. It also highlights their important role in maritime Silk Road trade during the Han Dynasty, making it a thorough and systematic academic study of regional Han-era bead ornaments.
