Over nearly five years, the author carried out in-depth investigations across Tibetan regions of China, India, Nepal, and areas connected to the ancient Mesopotamian cultural sphere, while also conducting research in major European museums. This wide-ranging fieldwork enabled the systematic collection of primary materials, archaeological evidence, and comparative visual data essential to the study.

Adopting an objective and scientific approach, the book reconstructs a comprehensive understanding of the origins, production contexts, geographical dissemination, and evolving cultural and religious meanings of Dzi beads. Rather than treating them in isolation, it situates Dzi beads within the broader continuum of ancient bead-making traditions, carefully tracing their historical development and artistic evolution.

Structured within a chronological and art-historical framework, the study examines materials, techniques, typologies, and symbolic systems, while incorporating archaeological discoveries and cross-cultural comparisons across Eurasia.
