An illustrated reference book to 1000 species of flowering plants of the region.  The book uses Bing-yuan Li's (1987)  definition on the range of Hengduan Mountains  (HDM):  the north boundary is in Nangqian- Sertar-maqu-jiuzhaigou;  The west boundary is nearby Riwoq-zayi-tengchong;  South boundary  in Longling-nanjian-xiaguan-lijiang-yanyuan:  East boundary in Wenxian-dujiangyan-luding-  Yanyuan. In terms of administrative divisions, it includes all Nujiang and Diqing in Yunnan Province, part of Dali, Lijiang and Baoshan in  Yunnan Province, nearly all Ngawa and Ganze in Sichuan Province, part of Liangshan, part of  Ya 'an, most of Qamdo in Xizang Province, and a  small part of Qinghai and Gansu Province.
