• The Wild Orchids in Tibet, by Wang Wei, Meng Kai, Xin Zhen, Pang Shenshen

This book is the result of many years of fieldwork carried out by researchers from the Orchid Conservation Center of Tibet (OCCT) at Tibet Agriculture and Animal Husbandry University. Drawing on extensive surveys across the region, it offers the most comprehensive account to date of Tibet’s orchid diversity.

In total, the study records 116 genera and 491 orchid species, of which 110 genera and 410 species are presented in the main text. Notably, 21 species are newly recorded in China, and 69 are documented in Tibet for the first time, highlighting the region’s rich and still-emerging botanical heritage. The classification and arrangement of species follow the APG IV system and the English edition of Flora of China, ensuring scientific accuracy and international consistency.

Each species entry includes a clear morphological description accompanied by field photographs that capture the plants in their natural habitats. For species that were not encountered in bloom during field surveys, living specimens were introduced into a conservation base and photographed once flowering occurred. Species for which photographs could not be obtained are listed separately in the appendix.

Fully illustrated with color photos, text in Chinese with scientific names, index in Chinese and Latin.
