This volume is a comprehensive visual documentation of mural art across three distinct regions of the Tibet Autonomous Region: Nyingchi (Linzhi) Municipality, Nagqu (Naqu) Municipality, and Ngari (Ali) Prefecture. It catalogues mural images from 59 sites—including monasteries, aristocratic estates, and private residences—spanning the counties of Bomi, Gongbo'gyamda, Sog, Biru, Bangoin, Zanda, Burang, and Rutog. Together, these materials present, for the first time, a coherent overview of the ancient mural heritage of these three regions.

By systematically recording murals in remote small monasteries, cave temples, and even private homes and manor houses, this volume fills a significant gap in the field. Notable sites documented here include Lhalung Monastery in Nyingchi, Bangna Monastery in Nagqu, and the Xiagou and Wujiang thousand-Buddha cave sites in Ngari.
